Understanding the Elements of Design

System designs are described process, manage, and form the components of a system simultaneously at the architectural level and detailed level .. Or in other words, the system design acts like a series of blue design (blueprints) that is used to build a house . Blueprints will explain about the room, walls, windows, doors and other home builders components in detail. To be able to understand the elements of the system design as a whole, there are 2 questions to be answered:
  1. What are the components that require systems design?
  2. What are the inputs and outputs of the design process?
To begin the design activity, the analyst must first divide the whole system into the main components, considering the extremely complicated to design an information system directly and thoroughly. Only then the pieces of the main components of the information system are combined together. Some system components that require activity than the system design are as follows:

  1. User-interface design, defines the forms, reports, and control of inputs and outputs.
  2. Network design, detailing the hardware and middleware that connects the system simultaneously.
  3. Application design, describes the programs and modules that exist in the computer.
  4. System interface design, describes how the communication lines can be established in the system as well as with other systems.
  5. Database design, tells about the structure of the database used.
Another important point to be observed in the design of the system is about different levels of design. In the analysis of activities, scope (scope) of a problem needs to be identified first before we understand the details of the problem. Such an approach is called top-down analysis. While the analysis of activities that have been described in previous meetings, involving both activities, namely top-down (ie: new first determine the detailed scope of his) and bottom-up (eg: the creation of a new first fragment DFD diagram 0) . Designing for a higher level (highest level) is called architectural design (often also called the general design and conceptual design). In the architectural design will be identified in advance regarding the structure of the problem and solution in general. Detailed design of the problems and the solutions will be in the detail design.

During the analysis activities take place, some documentation and modeling has been carried out. Modeling is used to represent the problems that occur in practice. In addition, the decomposition of the problem into information requirements and components are smaller also performed. Analyst uses all the information and its modeling to describe the solution system to be built. In contrast to the analysis, design is more focused on the technical issues that tend to involve systems professionals rather than users
