Importance of Development of Information Systems

With the development of time seiringnya then a system is certainly not always be used. For that there needs to be changes to the system either by improving the existing system or if it is necessary to replace the old system. There are some things that underlie it, among other things:

There are problems in the old system.

The problem referred to here as the irregularities on the old system so that the results are not as expected. For example: there are mistakes either intentional or not that causes the data on a company can not guarantee the truth, the chance or opportunity members of the system to fraud. Another problem can also be caused by the growth of the organization. For example: in a growing trading company which previously was limited in the city, has now grown to national and even international scale. The growth of the organization (company) previously owned forcing the system to be adapted to the needs of the work of these companies, such transactions previously conventional is now more modern by utilizing the internet.

To seize the opportunities.

A system should be improved or developed also due to seize the opportunity of an organization or company. For example at the level manager in a company is required to quickly generate a policy for the company to get more profits, so that these companies utilize decision support system to ensure that policies be obtained more quickly.

Their instructions (directives).

The system should be updated or amended is also caused by external factors such as government. The existence of government policies forcing a company using a system that does not conflict with the policy.

Development or manufacture of the system certainly does not cost a bit, so organizations should be wisely used to determine whether the system is still feasible to be used or have to be developed or replaced. The indicators that lead to the old system should be improved, enhanced and even replaced the whole thing is the presence of:
  • complaints from customers
  • delivery is often delayed
  • payment of overdue salaries
  • a report is not timely
  • report content that (often) wrong
  • Unclear responsibilities
  • Excessive working time
  • cash irregularities
  • low labor productivity
  • Many workers are unemployed
  • overlapping activities
  • slow response to consumers
  • loss of market competition opportunities
  • errors of manual high
  • inventory is too high
  • reordering items that are not efficient
  • high operating costs
  • files that are less organized
  • complaints from suppliers due to delayed payment
  • complaints from suppliers due to delayed payment
  • inefficient investments
  • forecasting sales and production is not appropriate
  • production capacity is idle (idle capacities)
  • the manager's job is too practical
Development of information systems to support business activities in the organization, stages consisting of initialization, analysis, design, and implementation. Information systems development can be the creation of a new system or addition or change modules on existing systems. In general, the flow of the development of an information system has several stages. Stages of development of information systems are often referred to also as the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

In the development of information systems, there are two (2) main things that must be considered.
  1. Product. Products are products to be produced at each stage of the development of information systems. Errors in the manufacture of products in each stage will lead to greater errors in the final product.
  2. Process. The process is the process of development of information systems. This process includes the stages of development ranging from feasibility stage to implementation. If the process is not carried out in accordance with the schedule, the possibility of project failure becomes.
