Once a company justify the investment in information technology, it should be decided on how to get it. The company must make business decisions, are as follows:

  • Purchase a Prewritten Application
More commercial software package consisting of standard features required by the application of information technology. Thus, buying an existing package, can be a cost-saving option and save time, than if you had to build a custom application in-house. However, companies also need to be carefully select and plan the option to buy in order to ensure that the package has been necessary for the company at this time, as well as for future needs. If not, then the application will expire quickly.

Advantage of "Buy" Option :

  3. The company can save much time by buying rather than building
Disadvatage of "Buy" Option:
  1. Software May not exactly meet the company needs
  2. Software may be difficult
  3. Vendor may continues a product or go out business.

Customizing software already owned an option to consider, if the software vendor allows companies to modify applications that suit your needs. However, this option would not be the best strategy, if the software is very expensive, and quick to expire.
  • Lease the Application
Compared with the option to buy, and the option to build in-house applications, then the option of renting the application, be most cost-effective option, both in terms of time and cost. But often, "leased packages", not according to the needs of an organization's application. Leasing, an attractive option attractive for small-to-medium size enterprises (SMEs), which are not able to finance large-scale information technology investments. Great company, also can choose this strategy, with the aim to test the potential of information technology solutions, before making large-scale investments.
