- Analog and Digital Signals.
Analog signals, a continuous wave, which transmits information by changing the characteristics of the wave. Digital signals, represented by a series of bits (0 and 1). The quality of the digital signal allows the signal to carry information in a binary format that can be recognized by the computer.
- Communications Media and Channels.
Communication channels, consisting of two types of media: cable (twisted-pair wire, cable, fiber-optic cable) and broadcast (microwave, satellite, radio and infrared).
