Hardware is the physical device that is used in the input, process, output and storage activities in the computer system. The decision in the selection of hardware, focused on the relationship between the three (3) the following factors: suitability in performing certain tasks, speed and cost. In general, the hardware technology is becoming increasingly smaller, faster, cheaper and more powerful over time.
- Strategic Issues Hardware
Here are some hardware strategic issues faced by the organization:
- What should be done by the organization in order to follow changes in prices and changes in performance excellence? For example, how often organizations to upgrade computers and storage systems?
- How the organization determines the infrastructure needs of the new hardware, such as server farms, virtualization, grid computing and utility computing.
- Portable computers and new technology equipment, allowing employees to work from home or from other locations. Is this how such work will bring benefits to the employees and the organization? How organizations manage this new style of work?
